About The Owners
Born and Raised in Osoyoos, John is definitely a staple in the community - he’s beyond familiar with the unique landscape of the area and the amazing local residents. Osoyoos is usually a town that people retire to or vacation in, so It’s very rare to meet a husband and wife duo that are both original families of the community.
In 2008 John met his future business partner, Wyatt Thompson through their wives and began their first project of building a retaining wall at John's home. They soon forged a friendship and in 2009 started their business partnership. John and his wife, Jen, still reside in Osoyoos with their children and remain active in the community.
When John isn’t busy on a project, he loves to be outdoors camping with his children, friends and extended family. He enjoys exploring and fishing in all of the beautiful areas that the South Okanagan has to offer.
Wyatt wasn’t born in Osoyoos but his roots and memories run so deep here that one might think he was. Wyatt was born in Kitimat, raised in Salmon Arm, but spent countless summers visiting his Aunt and Uncles’ East Bench home (Jack and Sue Whittaker).
As an adult, Wyatt spent over a decade working in the Alberta Oil Field than in 2004 he and his wife, Pam, decided to permanently call Osoyoos home to raise their young family.
His first successful business venture in Osoyoos was purchasing and operating the Wild Rapids Campground (Lakeshore Drive). With his wife and business partner, they converted the park to what is known today as Island View RV Resort. They sold the property and business and shortly thereafter, Wyatt began his partnership with John Shiels to launch Rocks ‘N’ Blocks Landscaping and Irrigation.
In his spare time, Wyatt can be found at his backyard grill entertaining family, friends and 3 children. They are often out and about at various wineries and restaurants, or relaxing at home and enjoying a great bottle of their very own Thompson wine. Sundays are always Jersey’s and NFL days with his son - no matter what team is playing, they will be surely watching.
